First time out

Grab the champagne bottle firmly by the neck, square your shoulders, and swing for the fences; it's time this ship was launched.

I'm assuming this is the kind of self-serving grandiose nonsense that's typical of a first blog post.  Next comes the well-meaning but ultimately hollow promises of regular updates, and perhaps a hint at how this will be "different" than all the ba-jillion (with a "j") blogs lurking on the interwebs.

So, here's the mission statement:

I, Matt Johnson, do hereby somewhat-solemnly promise to update whenever I feel I can be bothered, and to at least make a feeble at humor (or humour if you prefer) or offer any other form of suitable entertainment.  I will always respect you, the reader, as long as you agree with whatever I happen to be talking about, and will do my best not to publicly belittle anyone (other than myself).  I will continue to write about whatever pops into my head for as long as I remember to, or until blogging is no longer "in".

In the words of a much-beloved robot, "Everyone else was doing it; I just wanted to be popular"
